BigKid Dance is a queer movement community based in Philadelphia. We create collaborative, thought-provoking contemporary dance works reflecting on love, grief, curiosity, fear and identity in today’s society primarily through a queer lens. Our mission is to utilize imaginative movement, in practice and performance, as a bridge or invitation to community, communication and understanding. We hope to nurture a healthy environment with creativity and collaboration at the forefront, blending many mediums, styles and voices into our works. And above all, BIGKIDS is making space for all and anyone within the dance community who just want to move!

Our Mission
To create mindful, thoughtful, queer dance works & to connect, share and grow with our community.
WE STRIVE TO CREATE A SAFE, HEALING SPACE FOR ARTISTS TO FLOURISH, REKINDLING A LOVE FOR DANCE, MOVEMENT AND STORYTELLING. PROVIDING QUEER REPRESENTATION IN THE DANCE COMMUNITY.
Who We Are
A small dance community with a big heart!
BigKids’ artists are bold, influential and inspirational people. We want to remain grounded in our humanness while building creative, fantastical worlds to express ourselves through. We challenge ourselves physically and emotionally in our work, but make sure we are truly enjoying it all along the way!
What We Do
We make collaborative dance works
Our work lives nostalgically in the future. It’s imaginative, ambiguous, dreamy, at times dark, laced with relatable imagery of familiarity.
Our work reflects on memory, childhood, queer identity, the current state of the world, thoughts on love, death and healing through movement expression. The voices of our collaborators drive our collective vision.
